Ambulance company failed to bill my insurance 4 years ago and reported me to the credit bureaus. Need help?

Follow the normal dispute process with the credit bureaus. If they refuse to remove it, about all you can do is add a remark to your credit records.
The “hard” alternative is to sue the ambulance company, but that’ll cost you even in small claims court.

The situation is not as dire as it appears.
Have the insurance company send you proof that they have paid the bill to the ambulance company along with a letter stating the following:
1) You were covered by insurance at the time of the accident
2) The insurance company was responsible for the payment
3) The insurance company did not receive a claim from the ambulance company until Feb. 2008
4) The claim has been paid
Get a letter from the ambulance company stating that the claim has been paid in full.
Write letters to each credit reporting agency on which the collection account appears. Explain the problem, and enclose a copy of the letters from the insurance company and the ambulance company.
This should solve the problem. If the ambulance company tries to give you any grief, threaten a lawsuit for defamation and violations of both the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
