Where can I get my free credit report ?

The Truth asked:

freecreditreport.com , experian, transunion, equifax are all in together to make money off me. Where can I get a “real” free credit report without having to give up my credit card information and sign up for some monthly membership or a dumb “identity theft monitoring alert” service ?

thanks for any help!

Peggy

annualcreditreport.com is the real free site to check your credit file for free once a year.

NOT freecreditreport.com – They require a credit card and enrollment in their monthly service to get your “free credit report.” It’s a scam…but they need your money to pay for all those dumb commercials…..

You cannot get your credit/FICO score for free…you have to pay extra for this.

Unfortunately in order to get your credit report alot of the websites ask for your credit card information. They do that so when you sign up for a free trial if i you don’t cancel within that time they can charge your account. is one of the best ones out there. I signed up for there free 30 day trial and cancelled it before the 30 days was up and didn’t get charged anything. Freecreditreport.com I have to agree with the others is not that great as they say on tv. Plus they only have a 15 day trial with theirs and it’s more.

I got mine from freecreditreport.com for free.

I did have to give them my debit card #, but it was never charged.

Here’s a link that should help you not get charged, too:
