Got Jobbed asked:

A con man made a call claiming to be an officer from Department of Revenue. He said that I applied for LLC business license, but failed to complete paperwork. I was panic when I heard someone tried to file for LLC under my name. The guy said my ssn over the phone and asking is this my SSN? I unconsciously confirmed it was mine. He hung up then I realized, it was a scam. The LLC filing doesn’t required SSN and the filing is with corporate commission. I took all precaution measures by putting fraud alert on the big three. Enrolling to 24/7 credit monitoring services. I tried to file police report, but they won’t let me claiming that no crime is committed. What else should I do to prevent furthre damage? Also, why would the con man called if he already has my SSN?

Dolores

Layla Tusko asked:

The credit score attached to your social security numbers is the deciding factor for every financial purchase in life. If the credit score is within a predefined range, buying homes, cars and real estate is as simple as signing a name on the dotted line. If, however, that number falls below a certain predefined range, large purchases will carry even larger financial charges and interest rates. The key to fixing blemished credit, is understanding what is in your credit report and taking some careful advice on how to move that low score higher.

Credit monitoring services are ideal for watching and fixing credit scores. These services will work in one of two ways. The credit score will either be updated monthly on a regular basis, or they will be reported to you as changes occur in the score. Both programs offer the benefit of knowledge to the consumer.

The credit monitoring programs that update on a monthly basis are often utilized by people who want to fix bad credit scores. These programs will monitor and update credit scores, as well as, offer advice on how to raise that score. The advice may include information as detailed as which credit card accounts to pay off in what specific time frame. These services work on an ideal basis. This means that the scores are not guaranteed to raise the amount projected; this is often just an estimate.

The second style of credit monitoring program watches the changes in credit score even more closely. Reports are created every time balance amounts change on credit cards, score numbers fluctuate and preset goals are achieved. The in depth nature of these credit monitoring services can help fix credit scores through up to date knowledge about what activities create what effects on the score. If the consumer uses a credit card and their credit score lowers based upon the use, they will immediately know to stop the use of that credit card.

Fixing credit scores will take time. There is no immediate fix. Consumers can not pay a large lump sum of money and immediately clear away 10 years of bad choices. The only real fix for credit scores is time. Time spent paying all bills on time, watching what is spent and monitoring that credit score closely and carefully. Making good financial choices today and beyond is the only choice for fixing a credit score. The majority of weight for credit scores will be based upon the newest financial choices. Paying bills on time NOW will help raise the score despite the past credit payment history.

With improved credit scores, the consumer will experience easier financial buying power for larger purchases. This buying power will be determined by the overall range of the credit score and the debt to income ratio. No matter how high a credit score may be, if the consumer does not make enough money to cover the debt present on the credit report, no credit score will truly matter. Keeping debt low and credit scores high will open up every financial door possible in terms of purchase power and buying clout.

Georgia

Nickolay Bokhonok asked:

If you are looking for a good credit monitoring service that will protect your credit score and report then you should make your own through research. This is needed in order to find out all pros and cons of every option you are offered.

To put it simply – you need to compare credit monitoring services before making your final decision. In this article you will find some tips that will make your evaluation easier and faster.

First of all you should find out which of the companies keeps track of credit file every day. Also, it is recommended to choose a service that will keep you updated via emails of all changes of the credit report.

Secondly, while comparing pay attention to that whether you will be able to see how various factors affect credit scores. As a matter of fact this is a really essential aspect to consider since in this way you will be able to see how exactly the overall score is influenced by missed payment or lowered debt.

The third feature to evaluate is a level of security of different monitoring services. Besides, don’t forget to take into consideration the effectiveness of tracking down fraud and unauthorized access attempts. Keep in mind that it is better to choose a service that has already proved its effective rate.

The last but not least thing that should be compared is the price. Needless to say that different companies offer their services at different prices. So, after you discover the prices you will be able to choose a service with the most suitable monthly fee.

Now you know what key aspects must be considered while comparing credit monitoring services.

Tom Diebold asked:

Having the right credit monitoring service can be the number one, best weapon in your arsenal for improving your credit score. I mean, seriously, how amazing is it that you can pay a little bit of money every month and get emails every time something changes on your credit report?!

So, what is a credit monitoring service. What credit monitoring does is check credit reports for any added information, deleted info, or changed info. So basically, anytime something changes, you get notified. The service also typically gives you quick access to your credit report and credit history from all the credit bureaus (all three to be precise).

Also, besides the monitoring elements, you’ll get to take a look at your credit score on a continual basis. Additionally, you can subscribe to see your FICO score from the service. The FICO score is probably the most important score out there… It’s used to determine your approval for a loan, mortgage or a credit card.

After you start fixing your credit history with the credit monitoring service, you’ll be able to get new credit score updates – usually once per month. All you have to do is hit a button and it’ll recalculate it for you.

This can have a huge effect on your score because you’ll be able to instantly see whether what your doing or not is working. Occasionally, you’ll see some of the credit monitoring services offer tools that will tell you what effect on your credit certain actions you take might have on your rating. For instance, applying for a mortgage or paying off a credit card. This feature alone can be very beneficial in fixing your credit score.

When you start to dive into fixing your credit reports, you’ll quickly be able to see the differences in your three bureau’s credit reports. Since each of the credit bureaus keeps their own client database, there will most definitely be differences on all of them! Yep – your credit reports aren’t even standardized! Better yet, different banks and lenders check different reports… So if two out of your three reports are pretty clean, and your mortgage is checked against the one that’s not, you’re in a bit of hot water!

The fact that each of the different credit bureaus has separate information really reinforces the fact that you should have a copy of all three credit reports on a fairly consistent basis. Unfortunately, you won’t know which credit agency your lender will check!

A good credit monitoring service does something called alerting. Alerting is a feature that I was talking about that will email notices of any changes that should happen on your credit report. These can be good and bad alerts – but alerts none the same.

Most services allow you to monitor changes from all three credit bureaus which can be a great way to protect identity theft and watch your FICO score. Also, if you’re looking to get a mortgage loan or an automobile loan, you are going to need to know if anything changes on your credit report in advance of submitting the paperwork to the bank.

Additionally, quite a few of the credit monitoring services have Identity Theft insurance. Depending on the monitoring service, if someone steals your identity you can receive up to $25K or $50K in damage coverage. That is an awesome feature! Especially with all the unease of shopping online.

In a nutshell, a good credit monitoring service will let you watch your credit reports at the 3 major credit agencies. You can also see your individual credit score with the agencies and your overall FICO score. Then, you can set up alerts and ID theft coverage to further protect your credit history and credit score.

I’ve been using a credit monitoring service for quite some time and I can’t speak highly enough about it. I would have to say that the service alone is the reason I was able to build my (terrible) score of 610 up to a 740 – making me able to buy my first house! I can’t recommend having one enough!

Ruth

Kevin Lynch asked:

Credit monitoring is a service that you can get that will keep track of the three major credit-reporting agencies and if there are any changes in an individuals credit file, the service will notify them immediately. This monitoring allows the consumer to keep an eye on their report and rating without having to get the hard copy reports over and over again.

Monitoring services also keep the consumer up to date on new postings and any possible reporting errors. An important and valuable benefit to using a monitoring service is to help the consumer avoid becoming the victim of identity theft.

Credit monitoring can be highly effective in the early detection of identity theft or other fraudulent actions. The continuous monitoring of the information can provide significant early warnings to the consumer. Anyone who has a fear of becoming a target of identity theft for any reason should consider enrolling in a reputable monitoring program immediately so that they can get the warnings of any possible abuse.

The FTC estimates that nearly 10 million American’s are the victims of identity theft each year and that number is only going up. They also estimate that on average it takes 12 months for the victim of this theft to notice the crime. A monitoring service can alert you sooner before the problems become overwhelming. A credit monitoring service cannot prevent the crime but it can definitely reduce its impact.

One concern that comes up for people when they are thinking about employing a monitoring service is the amount of inquiries that will show on their report if they are continuously monitoring their information. The fact is that only the inquiries from a lender or creditor affect your score and a consumer can check his or her score as often as they wish with no penalty.

Another concern is the cost of the service. There are many different companies out there that offer credit monitoring services and they all offer various services at various prices ranging from about $4.95 a month for minimal service to about $14.95 a month or more for the highest level of services. Most will include ID theft reimbursement coverage.

Deciding on which service to use may be the most difficult decision to make when it comes to monitoring services. The more frequently a service is willing to contact you the better it will be for you. Some services will offer additional benefits like credit scores, debt analysis and fraud alert to suit a number of needs and requirements for just about any consumer.

A credit monitoring service may be a worthwhile investment for you if you are concerned with knowing about your credit and credit scores or if you feel it may be possible that you could become the victim of identity theft.

Donald

Nickolay Bokhonok asked:

Credit monitoring service reviews outline the main features of services you are available to choose from and that is the reason why they are very helpful when you are going to make your decision.

It should be started with the fact that all credit monitoring services available on the market today might seem the same for you and sometimes it might be a bit difficult to see those slight differences. In this article you will find out the main aspects that are involved in such kind of reviews and therefore it will be easier for you to find out things that services differ about.

It goes without saying that the access to reports and credit scores is a really crucial characteristic and that’s why it is always involved in the reviews. In fact, tracking the scores will provide a clear indication of when the person’s financial goal is reached.

Credit alert is the other essential aspect that should be taken into consideration. Simply speaking you will be notified concerning any changes to your credit. Also, if the case is that you are improving your credit, you will be able to check what have been already enhanced, verified or removed by creditors. It should be also pointed out that credit monitoring services provide regular updates on identity theft. This information can be received via e-mails or text messages to cell phones. As you understand, the ability to avoid the problem will save a lot of time and cash.

While looking through a review you should pay attention to “Credit Reports Monitored” section because there you will find out which of the companies offers all 3 bureaus’ reports. As a matter of fact this is one of the key features to consider while choosing a good credit monitoring service.

The other information that is typically provided by credit monitoring service reviews involves:

• Free Trial;
• Monthly Fee;
• Rating;
• Free Credit Scores;
• ID Theft Insurance/Guarantee;
• Bottom Line.

To conclude it all there is a need to underline that using credit monitoring service reviews will help you to choose a service that will deal with the headaches involved with identity theft damage and other issues.

Alma

Millie Borris asked:

In this day and age, identity theft is more common than ever. People are finding new ways every day to steal parts of your identity, from social security information to credit card numbers. Identity thieves find new ways to poach this information, and you may never know about it until it is too late. Fortunately, there are ways to protect yourself.

One great way to protect yourself from identity theft is to use credit monitoring. Credit monitoring allows you to obtain a copy of your credit report and check it for updates whenever you want. It’s the best way to make sure the information on your credit report is accurate. Credit monitoring has features designed to ensure your identity is protected.

The first step is to sign up for the service and review your credit report. Make sure all information is correct, from address information to account details. For many people, this is the only way you will know if you’ve been a victim of identity theft. Review your report and if you see information that is incorrect, rather it be a higher balance or an entirely new account, alert the credit bureaus. Credit monitoring has tools that make this very easy.

Most credit monitoring services offer daily updates. If anyone is trying to apply for credit in your name, you will know about it immediately. The faster you are alerted, the better. If you wait a month to pull another credit report, there could already be a severe amount of damage done to your credit score. By receiving daily updates, you know the exact status of your accounts and credit report every single day.

Credit monitoring services also offer identity theft insurance. In addition to the normal benefits, this offers you some much needed protection should you fall victim to identity theft. The insurance will cover all the damages done to you. Coverage can be as expansive as you’d like, sometimes up to $1 million or more. Having protection should you be victimized is an excellent benefit.

When you sign up for credit monitoring, you also have access to put fraud alerts on your account in an easy fashion. This provides protection should your identity be stolen. If someone tries to apply for credit in your name, the creditor must verify your identity, usually by a telephone call. This means that regardless of where someone applies for credit, they won’t be able to retrieve it since the creditor will see the fraud alert and be required to call you to verify that is actually you who is applying.

There’s no need to hire an extravagant identity theft protection company. Credit monitoring offers the same benefits at much lower costs. On top of that, you get all of the other benefits including regular updates to your credit score and tools to teach you about credit. The identity theft services that come with credit monitoring are easy to use and provide endless benefits to you. The best way to protect your identity is to stay on top of your credit report. Credit monitoring does that for you.

Mark

Joseph Troyer asked:

Equifax Credit monitoring review includes a number of services to help consumers keep a watchful eye on their credit reports. The three major reporting agencies keep reports detailing consumers’ repayment patterns. Any credit cards or loans are documented and whenever a late payment or non payment is reported, it affects the overall credit rating. It is very important to know what types are activities are being reported on your account.

In many cases, there are certain credit activities that are reported on a consumer’s account that do not belong to them. These are oftentimes mistakes that are made by the reporting bureau. But in some instances the reasons are related to identity fraud. There are individuals that steal credit card and other personal information for their own financial gain. When such illegal activities transpire, they often ruin the credit worthiness of the victim involved.

Individuals must take certain measures in order to protect their credit information. Credit fraud continues to be a growing problem and consumers must frequently track the credit information reported on their accounts. There are a number of ways people get their personal information stolen. There are many services that will help consumers detect unauthorized activity on their account.

Individual’s that have had their credit damaged as a result of credit fraud will have to spend a lot of time correcting their credit situation. Until the matter is resolved, this individual will have to live with the consequences of having poor credit. They will be denied loans and other forms of credit until their credit report is restored to its original state.

A number of different businesses provide credit monitoring services. These service range in the level of monitoring that they are able to perform for their customers. A basic service will send email alerts regarding any type of activity that is reflected on any of the three reporting agencies. Customers will be notified about any credit cards that were opened in their name, loan applications and other important financial information.

All of the major reporting agencies provide some form of a monitoring service to their customers for a monthly charge. Some plans offer more comprehensive services than others. It a good idea to check into all of the major credit monitoring service and select the one that best serves your needs. There are some services that also provide insurance against any loss suffered from credit fraud. Some of these plans do not require a deductible.

There are banks that also provide credit monitoring services to their customers. This is also for an additional fee. Banking monitoring services will also include any suspicious activity noted on your banking accounts. It is very important to frequently check the activity on you financial accounts. When a negative mark is applied to your credit report, it will affect you credit for up to seven years unless it is cleared.

Gerald

Sean Dean asked:

On the heels of a huge increase in identity theft and a volatile economy, credit monitoring services are becoming increasingly popular. These services range in price from free (which offer nothing more than notifying you of any changes, then making you pay to learn what they are), to plans which cost about $10 per month and offer monitoring plus identity theft insurance. Not everyone will have a use for these plans though. If you pay mostly by cash and don’t rely upon a favorable credit score for loans, mortgages, credit cards, housing, or job placement, then this is probably a service you can skip. However, credit monitoring services make sense for many, like folks who are in the following categories:

1. You’re Trying To Get A Loan / Funding / Job And Are Attempting To Improve Your Credit Score: Today, your credit score almost defines who you are. A good score will affect your ability to get credit, a job, or a home (even if you are renting because landlords check). In some cases, future employers or schools check as well. So, if you are in this category, not only do you need to know your FICO score, but you’ll need to fix any errors (up to 70% have at least small errors). Often, the monitoring service will also show you where you fall on the credit scale and how you look to a future creditor or potential employer. The monitoring services usually can also help you come up with a plan on how to bring your score up and then will monitor your score while you get there so you can make any necessary changes or improvements immediately.

2. You’re At High Risk For Or Suspect Identity Theft: These days, this category includes almost any one, but if you have multiple credit accounts, have accounts under different names, or are going through or have just gone through a divorce or wedding, you are particularly vulnerable. Identity thieves also love to prey on families with young children who are in the process or obtaining a social security number or families who have recently had a death. If you’ve noticed credit offers addressed to someone other than yourself or you’re getting phone calls from collectors, contact one of the big three reporting companies to see what’s going on. The monitoring companies are vital when you are at high risk because you’re given a report daily and can immediately identify and report any unauthorized use. Many also offer theft insurance of up to say $20,000 for a very minimal fee.

3. You Have Had Identity Theft In The Past And Need To Monitor Your Activity: If you’re in this category, you know what a night mare ID theft can be, but even if you think it’s over, you still need to keep an eagle eye on your accounts because your information could still be out there. Since you know how difficult it can be to sort it out, you know the importance or reporting suspicious activity immediately. Credit monitoring companies make that not only possible, but relatively painless, as you can customize your daily alerts to notify you via email or wireless communication.

Eileen
